Pro A/V Applications

360 Systems’ new Image Server Select provides fully professional quality video, with features tailored to the needs of Pro A/V. It leads the way with current file-based capabilities, yet maintains connectivity with traditional equipment. Equally important, Select delivers a broad range of production and playout tools in an attractively priced package.

The Select server operates as a video recorder, a 3-channel playout server, a mass-storage device, and includes a versatile set of production tools. Beyond recording and playing professional quality MPEG-2 video, it can also import DV files over a Gigabit Ethernet link, from popular NLEs (editors) like Final Cut Pro®, Adobe Premiere® and Avid.

Select’s hardware and software tools join together to make a smooth upgrade path for tape-based studios. It’s ideally suited for municipalities, cable head-ends, universities, houses of worship and production centers. Select also includes the advanced features needed for file-based production and distribution. But equally important, it retains base-band connectivity and is compatible with your existing equipment. Extras include a video frame synchronizer and an audio sample rate converter, allowing it to work with “wild” (non-genlocked) program sources. Composite video ports and +4 balanced audio on XLR connectors make this a drop-in fit at existing facilities. There’s no need to buy extra outboard accessories.

Image Server Select

Gigabit Ethernet for Fast File Transfers

Select shares content easily, thanks to its fast file-transfers over Gigabit Ethernet. It’s able to talk to other servers, NLEs and to Network Attached Storage. And it supports many file formats, including MPEG-2, IMX (D10) and DV.

Production Tools and Server in a Cost-Effective Package

Select servers come with a full-featured Graphic User Interface that’s able to control its three video channels simultaneously. VTR-style buttons and time code displays give it a familiar look and feel, while keyboard shortcuts like J-K-L keys speed up every operation. You’ll be able to quickly perform head and tail trims and segment programs for broadcast.

Select’s Advanced Playlisting tools provide rapid list-building, editing and playout of everything from news to complete program sequences. It includes many production-oriented features like drag-and-drop, looping, skip and hold. For many users, Advanced Playlisting may be all that’s needed to get your programs to air or cable.

Optional Remote Workstation Software makes it easy to control the server from any location in a building. Separate work areas can be created for ingest, trimming and segmenting, building playlists, or just monitoring server content. With Remote Workstation software, every server function can now be controlled using a low-cost PC and an Ethernet link.

Automation Systems and Remote Control

Automation & Remote Control Typical Configuration

Image Server Select Makes System Design Easy

Select servers are compatible with cost-effective automation systems, like those from Crispin, DTG, Leightronics, Nverzion and Tightrope Media. So pick your system with the confidence that it will work exactly as you expect. Six GPI ports are also included to work with push-button panels and switcher outputs.

Popular desk-top controllers like those from DNF, make the Select server the perfect clip storage device for sports and entertainment events.

High Reliability Storage

With Select, you get over 100 hours of internal storage (at 8 Mb/sec.). Advanced RAID-5 technology spreads data across four internal drives, resulting in a high level of security for program material. It helps keep you on-air, even if a drive should fail. Of course, drives are easily replaced from the front, without removing the server from its rack. And the entire package fits in just 3½” of rack space.

Best of Class for Pro A/V

360 Systems brings legendary quality and reliability to products for broadcasting and Pro A/V. With 35 years of experience and 30,000 hard-disk units in service, 360 Systems has more field experience than any other manufacturer. The Select server’s Pro A/V design is based on our success with more than a thousand Image Servers, in use around the globe. Innovative features, and the ability to handle content in many forms make the Select server a “Best-of-Class” choice for Pro A/V.

Compare 360 Systems’ price and performance with anything else. You’ll find that Image Servers offer the lowest price-per-channel of all servers; and their cost-per-hour for program storage is the lowest in the industry.
