Shortcut™ Personal Audio Editor
Single Track Editing
Q: How do I perform single-track edits on the Short/cut Personal Audio Editor?
A: When it is desired to perform an edit operation on only one track, press the ARM button on the opposite channel to "disarm" it. Then proceed with the edit operation using the same procedures used for stereo editing. Any edit operation can be performed on a single track.
The Cut operation will remove material from only the armed track, so material after the edit in point will no longer be aligned between the two tracks. Similarly, Insert will add material to only one track. Material after the edit in point will not be aligned unless the Insert operation replaces a selected range of exactly equal length.
Copy is a special case in single track mode. You can copy single track material from one file to another, either via the clipboard or Hot-Keys. Single-track material can be inserted into either track when performing a subsequent single-track Insert operation.
When you Copy material with only one track armed, this creates a single-track Clipboard or Hot-Key file.
• If you Insert this material into a file with one track armed, the material will show up in the armed track even if that means that it moves from one channel to the other.
• If you Insert this material into a file with both tracks armed, then the material will show up on only the track that it was on when it was Copied; the other track will contain silence.
If you Insert stereo material into a file with only one track armed, the left channel of the stereo material will be inserted into the left track if it is armed, or the right channel material will be inserted into the right track if it is armed.
Q: Can I record on only one track?
A: Short/cut always records on both tracks. In order to create a single-track file, the Edit operations described above must be used.
