These instructions will assist you in replacing the Meter PCB in your DigiCart/II, these instructions do not apply to the DigiCart/II Plus. Please pay close attention when you are disassembling the unit. Failure to do so will result in damage. Read all instructions before attempting this procedure.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN: This modification to your DigiCart/II must be performed by qualified electronics personnel. Do not attempt this upgrade unless you have some experience working with electronics assemblies. You must follow the directions exactly to avoid any damage to the circuit board or components.
You will need the following tools and materials:
• A clean, flat work area
• A medium Phillips-head screwdriver
• A 3/16" hex nutdriver
CAUTION
Electric Shock Hazard
To protect against injury or electric shock, and to ensure against damage to the DigiCart/II you must disconnect the unit from AC power.
Static Sensitive Components
Components on the circuit boards may be damaged by static electricity carried on your fingers and tools. To avoid damage to components, always touch the metal chassis before touching the surface of the circuit boards.
PROCEDURE:
1. Unplug all cables from the DigiCart.
2. Remove the four screws securing the cover.
3. Unplug the SCSI and power cables from the drive.
4. Remove the two side screws securing the drive.
5. Lift the drive from DigiCart chassis (front first is easier).
6. From the bottom of the DigiCart, remove the four screws that connect the hard drive to the chassis. Hold on to the drive
before all screws are off to keep it from falling free.
7. Disconnect the SCSI and power cables from the hard drive.
8. Remove the 3/8" socket screw from the old meterboard and pull it away from the button board.
9. Carefully cut the tie wraps from the old meterboard cable.
10. Observe orientation of the meterboard cable connector to the backplane before disconnecting it from the backplane.
11. Lift the meterboard assembly away from the DigiCart.
12. Installation of the DADC meterboard are reverse steps of removing the old board.
